Priority Occupation List was introduced mainly to reduce the processing time frame leading towards faster Immigration and seeks to shrink immigration application processing times.

Under the Immigration Minister's new instructions, Canadian Immigration Visa Officers reviewing Federal Skilled Worker applications will process those from candidates who:

  • Have at least one year of continuous full-time or equivalent paid work experience in the past 10 years in one of the 38 qualifying occupations; or
  • Have been living in Canada with legal status as a Temporary Foreign Worker or an international student for at least one year; or
  • Qualify for Arranged Employment with a full-time permanent job offer from a Canadian employer – BIGGBIZ MANAGEMENT By Joining Canadian private Employment agencies arrange JOB NOMINATION.
  • Almost all provincial schemes not need point system

The list of 38 qualifying occupations was compiled based on consultations with provincial and territorial business and labour stakeholders.  They have been identified as the most in-demand occupations in Canada.

For those applicants who have their files returned, there are several other categories under which they may qualify for Canadian immigration. The Provincial Nomination Programs (PNP) for one, is an attractive fast-track option.

Occupations in demand in Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario

According to the most recently available information, the list below shows the current occupations in demand in Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario. This list is subject to change at any time.

At present, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia have entered into an agreement with the Canadian Federal Government to ensure occupations in demand can be more easily filled by temporary foreign workers.

Applying for these positions in the above provinces will provide you with a more streamlined visa process, and help you make the move to Canada faster and more simply.

Generally, Canadian employers can hire temporary foreign workers once they have demonstrated they have not been able to hire a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
